These last couple of weeks have been full of planning, reviewing, and just getting things done! Meeting with new people who plan to celebrate their love stories, organizing our office, going green! (which requires a lot of shredding and recycling), doing inventory plus planning for tax season is the norm for January, but we can’t help but be excited for this year. One of the biggest things that have helped us stay on track is accountability with each other plus a few other tools. Last year we finished with a shoot styled by us (see the sneak peek above)! And although it was about a month of planning and emailing, it was a goal we were able to check off for 2016. We want to have realistically accomplished at least the majority of our goals at the end of 2017. These are tools that we love that can help you stay on course plus get wedding planning done or your get business tasks checked.

5 best apps to plan your wedding or business-2

A slice of Tanya’s workspace

  1. Trello – SCORE! I’ve tried all kinds of apps for productivity tracking. I’ve shelled out more than a fair buck or two to keep all tasks in an efficient way. We’ve found that Trello does ALL things that we need. It keeps projects and tasks in a compartmental way, but also allows you to see everything you’re working on in a glance. Another brownie point is that it’s perfect for teams–tasks that require more than one person per project. Meaning Victor and I can keep track of what we’re both working on. Stuff that gets delegated to him, I still have access to, and vice versa. So if you and your groom or partner are doing individual tasks, you can keep track of that easily!

I-Love-Evernote-Tanya-&-VICTOR

  1. Evernote – who hasn’t tried Evernote yet? I know, this app has been the talk of the solo-entrepreneur community, but man! This takes the cake! Apart from it easily integrating with Trello and being so easy to use any kind of device. We use it to track our meeting notes and brain dump content ideas. It records voice memos, pictures, creates quick, easy ‘to-do’ list, also integrates with Google Drive and other apps! The best part is that you can keep multiple notebooks, keeping different facets of your life in check!

  2. Google Calendar– Maybe let’s call this Google anything. This is so easy to use and create different kinds of event categories. We use it to track meetings, sessions, tasks due, appointments and yearly events like birthdays and major Holidays. When Victor or I am in the midst of scheduling something, it’s easy to pull up on our phone or desktop just to see if the other has already scheduled something before us! Plus, its so much user-friendly than iCal! (no shade iCal) The calendar pulls google photos from wherever the location is and makes your appointment/meeting that much more exciting when you pull it up!

One of our favorite things in the Office!

  3. Spotify – Ok, so maybe this isn’t a ‘productivity’ app, but some really creative music playlists help me concentrate. There are times where silence drives me crazy, especially because I’m working by myself in the corner of our studio and Victor works in the studio later in the evenings. I’m a people person, and I usually have to bounce back ideas or questions off someone, and Spotify really pulls through. It distracts me from being distracted and helps me zoom in on things that need to get done. I can find any, any, any kind of music from super old school Billy Holiday to music from the Andes. You probably won’t find Prince and maybe Beyonce won’t appear right after magically dropping an album, but there’s anything and everything in between! Sometimes, Victor will listen to his 90’s alternative rock playlists while I’m jamming to piano classics (reminiscing on long hours of practice in my youth 😉 )

  4. Day Designer Planner – I’ve used this planner for the last 3 -4 years. Before that, we were die-hard Moleskin agenda fans, but as our business grew and more tasks and goals flooded the pages of our trusty Moleskin, we decided to upgrade. I found the Day Designer by Whitney English when she was still on Etsy; now she’s all over! Victor uses a different planner, but he’s still trying it out and has yet to deliver his verdict. This keeps track of our yearly goals (personal & career-wise) while helping organize days succinctly to have a favorable annual outcome. I’ve developed a little system for myself where it filters critical tasks from Trello and our studio portal to keep up with our client workflows. It still has kinks, but so far, I’ve been gliding through my 2017 days a lot smoother than 2016. Organization goals!

There are many other apps we love! Like the Pomodoro app, which helps take brief breaks thus improving on getting stuff done! I like to say it helps with people who are ADD like me, who get distracted by the bling of a new email message or binging on instastories (yes, guilty pleasure of mine). Google drive is another one who streamlines information for us. Grammarly as well! It helps with writing posts like this and making sure that filters my ‘Tanya’ brain in email well. There are so much more, but Victor only allows more than a few subscriptions a month.

Our theme, if it wasn’t evident, for this month is organization! We have goals, serious goals, and I want to close out 2017 knowing we did everything we could to meet them! As cliché as that might sound. Do you have apps or sites or even routines that help you stay on task with wedding to-dos or girlboss goals?
