5 Important Bridal Details You Can’t Miss!

Clients always ask us what are some of our favorite parts of weddings. I love people and details. I love to hear people speak their own words of appreciation for the couple when its time for speeches and toasts. Victor always says that he likes to watch the daughter and father dance for his reason that he wasn’t able to attend his sister’s wedding. I also love the bridal prep. I enjoy so much getting to photograph all the sweet details the bride is planning to wear; it’s the finishing touch on her bridal beauty in my opinion.

Over the last season, there were times where brides put a lot of thought into bringing together their details like their shoes, the gown, and the bouquet. These are the bridal staples as I like to call it, but what about other details like perfume, jewelry (aside from the wedding bands) and stationary. Some of these elements are often overlooked, with the focus being on the overall wedding day. To this day, 6 years later, I still cherish my jewelry, my perfume and all the little family heirlooms I included in my own wedding. Sometimes I wear them out on special occasions if possible. I have my heirlooms stored ever so carefully in a crystal box that hangs like a frame. It’s so sweet to have these but even more precious are my wedding albums that contain these bridal details styled and also included when my mom was helping me put them on. This kind of moment is so incredibly touching for the two of us because she had always wanted to have that with her mother but wasn’t able to. So, these are my 5 things you can’t afford to miss for your bridal details; your future self will thank you.

1. Invitations & Stationary – The most forgotten detail of the 5. Often, I found that brides would forget to bring an extra invitation suite or stationary that had both the couple’s names. Invitations and stationary create the perfect background for other details. It also subtly introduces your theme for the rest of the day. Plus it has both your names in a beautiful design announcing your wedding date.

2. Jewelry – Often Brides decide to skip investing a little extra in jewel details and opt for simple and budget-friendly designs or none at all. Although, I look forward to the possibility of getting more wear on my dime afterward. Having these pieces put together before the day will help you bring a nice visual of your look for the day. It also brings a stunning radiance to your photographs. You can even wear your bridal jewelry for years with pride knowing that the first time worn was on the wedding day.

3. Bridal accessories – Gowns and dresses often come with beautiful sashes, veil, lace and other bridal extras like a clutch that can help complete the gown look. Yes, bridal gowns are an investment, but having accessories will add final touches on one of the most expensive dresses you’ll ever wear, so why not add a little something more? Having these pieces together on your wedding day ahead of time will adorn the classic dress shot. Also, accessories create layers of visual interest.

4. Perfume – Our technology capabilities don’t quite allow for a scent to come through photographs. Although, scents always remind us of something or someone or even a place. Perfume has an incredible way to create an impression when you walk into a room. Attaching a particular scent to the day you got married will be one of the most significant memory recorders you’ll have. Make sure it’s perfume you love. My Flower Bomb always reminds me of the day I put on my wedding dress for the first time. Plus it adds personality to your bridal details in photographs.

5. Family Heirlooms – I wish more brides thought of this. Anywhere from a hanky to a brooch or a locket gives a sentimental feeling to your day. To be able to include mementos from those who passed on is very special and unique. I wore a necklace that my dad gifted my mom on their 6 month anniversary. It has 6 diamonds, and he had saved every cent of his hardworking teenage money to be able to gift it to her. When he put it on me when I was about to put my veil on it was one of the sweetest memories I’ll ever have.

Each wedding is unique and so personal. There’s no getting around that, but as a visionary for the day, you will have a complete story with little details like this that represent more than the luxury and expenses of a wedding day. They represent moments, attached to the adage of the something old, something new; something borrowed, something blue. They express emotions and once-in-a-lifetime kind of sentiments. Don’t forget it’s all about the details!
