Oakland Wedding, Cathedral of Christ the Light: Rubi & Misa

This day was over 13 years in the making. They were in about their third year of dating when they came to a beautiful church being erected right there next Lake Merrit. Rubi secretly confided in Misa that she would one day like to get married there. Fast forward to almost 10 years, and there Misa stood at the end of the long concrete aisle waiting for Rubi to make her way. She couldn’t contain herself once she saw him. What was once a dream finally became a reality for both of them. She held onto her parents tight, and Misa couldn’t help but be moved by her timeless bridal beauty. It was a solemn moment, a touching embrace of her parents giving her away with their blessing.

Their long-awaited event was joined by hundreds of loved ones from near and far. Rubi and Misa ensured that they honored their heritage by including all kinds of traditional Mexican elements in each piece of their day. From the Mariachi band that serenaded Rubi as she dressed and played her processional song, to the Mexican schoolbus that escorted her bridal party of 34 friends and family, every piece represented a little bit of their story together. Flavors, scents and even the weather cooperated to the Mexican theme. Folkloric dancing and the traditional banda music entertained their guests while the night was young.

Rubi and Misa were greeted like celebrities everywhere. From the moment they left their homes to dancing the Mexican zapatio as their first dance. Their wedding was the perfect excuse to celebrate as if there was no tomorrow but with the hopes that tomorrow would last for many more decades to come. Toasts were made with a scotch whiskey blend, and more tears were shed. There was a certain nostalgia looming as their families knew that Rubi, being the eldest was to make a transition. Her youngest brother eloquently thanked for every effort she made to better their lives. She was moved, and he assured her that they would always be there for her just as she was for them. Family, heritage, faith, and celebration rang throughout their day.

Rubi and Misa, thank you for having us on this journey with you. We hope that this day will forever reign in your hearts as the start of the next decade and so forth. We wish you more Raiders’ wins, more excuses to dance zapatio and the good kind of warmth all year around 😉 Victor and I were profoundly touched by how much support you two have. You always have us in your corner too!

They’re definitely contenders for almost breaking the world record of the largest bridal party!
