They’re eyes crossed amidst their educational journeys in France, Paris to be exact. They were there to extend their careers but were in for more than they planned. Mengru had known Su from their high school year in Shanghai, but their real journey together started after many days, weeks and months, of spending time together in full Parisian bliss. Fancy wine and chocolates were the usual occasions, and then they found themselves taking long excursions to the South of France exploring and adventuring while also falling deeper in love. It was the best place to begin a journey of a lifetime together.

Their careers took them to the States. The East Coast became their 1st home together, and they decided mutually to get married in the Cambridge Courthouse. There was no family present, and although, there’s a marriage license with their names titling them as husband and wife, their parents urged them to make it ‘official’ back at home in China. Before heading back to do so, they settled down in San Francisco. They’re worldwide travelers, lovers, on the road to bigger and greater things.

Mengru, only having 4 months in San Francisco, scouted some of the most scenic areas– places that reminded her of their 10-year trajectory. Although, San Francisco doesn’t quite replicate the Parisian glamor and romance, it certainly doesn’t lack character and coastal beauty. They went on a full day bike ride to make sure that the scene matched their early chapters while also alluding to their future as a family in San Francisco.

Just a couple days before Valentine’s Day and before Mengru’s journey back to China, the temperamental Bay Area weather finally let in a bit of sunlight to illuminate their love story. Stow Lake and its Sunday charm was a serene place where we finally met amidst the busy foot traffic. Su rowed and let himself be graciously directed by me shouting from the shore. He wore a handsome smile while he extended his arms back and forth in the efforts to avoid other boats nearby. Mengru dawned her blush colored her dress that she plans to wear when they “officially” marry Shanghai. They brought their Champagne to reminisce on the ‘old’ days while toasting to an even brighter future.

Mengru & Su we are so grateful to have crossed paths with you in this part of your lives. Thank you for bearing the cold weather and keeping our schedules in mind as the crazy weather kept trying to stop an unbelievable love story to be captured. We are so wholeheartedly thankful for your lives! We enjoyed the chocolates and devoured them in an instant while driving back. Au Revoir et bon voyage!
