Our Mini Session Holiday Set

She’s always been an inspiration. She is the closest thing to a mother’s mother for me. She took me on my first adventures when I finally mastered the use of my legs at 11 months. Ever since I first screamed my way into this earth when born, she was always present with camera in hand. My mom jokes how she took more photos of me than she did. I have dozens of baby albums, proofs of the terrible twos up to that first time when going to middle school. My Tia Angela has been just that, an angel. Although, my mom lost her mother right when I was born, my Tia Angela has been and is that maternal grandma that I could’ve missed. You know, the one that can recount how she gave you your first bath and all other the other embarrassing firsts? She is my grandmother’s younger sister.

Right around this time last year, my mom and I knew that we wanted to gift her something special with more value than any sale or clearance that can be found at any of the stores. Tia Angela had a bit of a health scare last year, and we had to confront the fact that the days are indeed fleeting. My mom asked me to find a way to take our portraits with all of the other cousins, her grandchildren. It took a little bit of a minutia and strategy but my aunt Roxana did it. She found a way that we can gather all 10 of us in one place.

December 24th quickly came, and I was so eager to show her my present. I had printed our portrait in large to gift to her. “Here’s one more for the gallery wall,” the card read. As she opened the Kraft 24×36 sized envelope, she was a bit confused. I could tell, because everyone had gathered around the dining table to see her reaction. She pulled out the heavy paper and could barely hold it with her two delicate hands. She quickly embraced me with her arms because she knew how hard it might’ve been to gather everyone for this one photo. Her reaction was priceless. No price for paper, the photographer or time invested could amount to her smile and tears.

Our Holiday sessions are our best attempt to help anyone fill their loved one’s heart just like Tia Angela. This season is all about joy, peace, and love and even though it’s fleeting, we love the ability to preserve moments for as long as time will last. It’s all about being together, making memories and gifting each other with the unexpected.
