5 things I’ve learned in our 5 years of Marriage

wax seal and letter-2 It’s been 5 years since we eloped. We had already been together for 4 years before that, and we knew that we wanted to spend forever on our 2nd month of dating. It’s almost has been a decade since we decided to be a couple and I still have that feeling of familiarity that we’ve met in past lives but the mystery of tomorrow weighing in. Victor is one of my constants and together we are the heart and soul of our little family. These are five things that have stuck with me for the past 5 years of marriage.

  1. He teaches me every day to take my time and to be patient.
  2. He shows me the spontaneity of dancing and celebrating for no reason.
  3. He loves to be a listener and a spectator, but when he tells a story, he draws everybody in.
  4. He’s had staples thrown in his face and carries the weight of customers’ complaints but still manages to walk out with a smile when I pick him up.
  5. His humility to always be a learner inspires me to keep my heart and mind open.

I know life would be different without him, but for some reason, God paired us for the divine purpose of learning from each other and complimenting one another. He’s the reason why I hold marriages near and dear. Sometimes I’m in disbelief that I get the privilege to make him happy. I will always guard that as my highest honor.

PS: we hardly have any recent picture of us together, so we’re working on that!
