They had connected online for the first time, but the attraction was inevitable on their first date. From San Diego to Chicago these were just a few places Leticia called home. Although nationally known, her connection to Art drew her back to her home of origin, the Bay Area.

Fast forward some time, Leticia and Art were on their vacation in Waikiki on the verge of traveling to the most romantic island, Maui. It was their last evening there with friends. Surrounding a warm fire pit, they were conversing about life and other endeavors. Meanwhile, Leticia’s friends and family were clued in on Art’s intentions. As the night set, Art sensed the perfect time window to interject. He got up quickly and went upstairs to retrieve that special gift he had been waiting to give to Leticia. He walked back in, and he picked up the conversation where he had left it. Leticia didn’t quite understand the question he asked. He then proceeded to ask her again, “How could you break up with me, when you’d be married to me?” Leticia was still perplexed. Then he clarified and proposed to her. While in shock, it took a few minutes for Leticia to gather herself. Her friends were cheering her on, all the while Art was reassuring her that this was not a joke. She gasped for air and proclaimed a loud ‘yes.’

Victor and I couldn’t help but fan ourselves of the nerves as they narrated their proposal story to us while walking to Crissy Field Beach. The sun was about to set on that surprisingly warm February day. With time ticking, I now knew that Waikiki is an integrated part of their love story; I figured that ending their session on the beach would only be befitting. Leticia’s ease of laughter and Art’s playful gaze crowned the day with the already pink hues in the sky. I took in that moment while standing on a trunk and thought that I couldn’t be more honored to play a major role in their day.
