It all started with a crush on the soccer field. Alyssa would be finishing soccer practice while Andrew was starting his rugby match. They crossed paths many times, stares and even smiles. He thought she was taken, but little did he know that she was just playing a little ‘hard to get’ game on the field with him. He finally got the nerve to ask her out on a date. She without hesitation accepted. Their college years swiftly went by where many aspects may have changed, but they remained together. A few years and a puppy child later, he asked the grand-ol’ question of spending the rest of their lives together, and again Alyssa happily accepted.

We started their session in their Alma mater, my school’s arch nemesis, St. Mary’s in Lafayette. Since, that’s where their love tale started; we figured we pay some homage by including the beautiful archways, the historic vines and walking about the field. Buzz was the excellent chaperone, frequently taking the lead almost as if he was our personal tour guide. After doing a little romping in the halls and intermittingly shooting between students passing by, we drove to the Lafayette Reservoir.

They day couldn’t have been planned any better. It was a warm 70-degree sunset. After a little hiking and sneaking in kisses with Buzz, the sunset dispersed its magical pink hues into the sky. We have a little bit to go before the rustic nuptials, but I cannot wait to see what May has in store for Alyssa and Andrew.
