We had been counting down the days ever since we clicked “confirm” on the airplane ticket fare page 40 days before. Scratch that, we were counting down to the very hour until our flight to Guatemala. It had been a year and two months since Victor had seen his family and lot had changed since our last visit, especially with the arrival of the new family member, our adored nephew. Lorena and Julio’s wedding was the perfect excuse to overstay our welcome, and we took quite an advantage of it. From Guatemala City to the oh-so-lovely Antigua, to the coast with the proximity to El Salvador, our trip ranged from doing touristy and the not-so-glamourous touristy things. People often ask, why don’t you visit El Salvador? Well, short answer, most of my family, is here (USA). The limited internet access made it a bit difficult to stay up to date with the ongoings of the blogosphere and social platforms, but I think that’s for the best.
I love to connect, but I realize that to be able to connect with people, sometimes it’s best to unplug for a while. Also, getting my phone unlocked days before was a #fail.
I can’t really describe our ventures in 800 words or less (the recommended average of words to be used before I lose your attention). Thus, I journaled with my film camera(s), and Victor went full-throttle with the DSLR. So in typical Tanya-style, I couldn’t wait for my film scans to come back, to show you some of the beauty we experienced.
