9 years ago they first laid eyes on each other at their college newspaper. She was going about her work when her then supervisor informed her of the ‘cute’ boy she had recently hired. Enter Chris. His charm and his blue eyes put a wink in Kristi’s eye, and they soon began to date. 9 years later and they found themselves thriving in their lives moving around all of Wisconsin. They had almost a decade brewing with memories of travels, family, and a marathon.
The tenth year of their story brought their awaited day of nuptials. Having been together for years, Chris’s happiness came from giving Kristi the day she wanted. Wanting to keep their affair intimate and sweet, they planned to exchange vows in beautiful wine country, California. The Harvest Inn nestled in St. Helena would host their wedding, and about 40 of their closest friends and family joined them.
The near 100-degree weather fused the Napa air, and the towering redwood trees shaded their affair. Kristi was getting last minute touch ups as her sister brushed off the nerves and brightened her bridal glow. Chris gathered his groomsmen and toasted to his day. She remained still, and her mother crowned her with a hair brooch, and gave her a few words as Kristi went to have a first look at Chris. They were both stunned at each other in their bride and groom attire.
The bright sun slowly hid behind the hills and their celebration continued. Kristi and Chris had their first dance under the twinkle lights. Each of their guests couldn’t resist but smile, and a few shed a tear. Those that were present witnessing knew their journey, their story of all those years of growth and fond memories. In true Wisconsin-fashion the craft drink of the evening kept coming. IPA’s, Chardonnay, and other reds sweetened the evening. Their lives had become one and although the heat was an uninvited guest, the words, the glances and dances expressed that night was enough to allay the warmth.
Kristi and Chris, thank you for having us be a part of one of the biggest days of your lives. It is our sincerest hope that you take away not just the Russian River brew taste, but a piece of California love with you since we left with a piece of Wisconsin with us. We hope that your uncharted journeys will take you above and beyond your wildest dreams. We wish you million more moments of bliss, joy, and heart.
