Jefferson Street Mansion, Benicia Wedding Photographer Vicky and Marcelo 001 Weather reports predicted rains and cloudy skies without as so much as a stream of sunshine. There was no need. Sun rays were not missed or even noticed gone. The early morning gave a welcome to Vicky and Marcelo and all of their near and dear to their hearts to the historic Jefferson Street Mansion. It was a sudden moment of gratefulness and love while Vicky put on her dress. Just down the hallway, Marcelo dressed in his Sunday best to marry the love of his life. The prayed for a few years for this moment. It was a few years made up of different seasons of hardship, strength, transition and joy. The moment came to have their first look and although it was just a few minutes before they were to see each other, emotions and words of thankfulness fluttered everywhere.

She finally stepped out. He was waiting for her, and it was hard not to watch or even to blink for a millisecond. This moment came from years of holding steady amidst a hard season, of holding on to each other when everything in life was trying to tear them apart. It was also after a year of getting to know their baby son. This meeting wasn’t just beautiful, and it didn’t have anything to do with me or our photographic angles but this brief moment of triumph and love was moving. As their family and friends watched from a distance, they portrayed bits and pieces of their lives with their gaze, tears, and smiles. Raindrops intervened, and it was a small sign that it was time for them to wed. The ceremony started, and it was the perfect prelude to the rest of the day. Their vows narrated their story and declared love and victory above anything else. At the culmination, their parents blessed their marriage with spoken prayers and loving thoughts.

The clouds parted and the day continued. There was so much laughter in the room. Vicky and Marcelo graced their guests with a duet stunning everybody and even servers. They brought their love of music and worship throughout their reception with salsa and cumbia (some of our favorites). It was intimate and unforgettable.

Vicky and Marcelo, thank you for letting us be there to document this unprecedented moment for you. We felt like guests only with fancy cameras and probably pulling you a little bit too much left and right. We are moved by your story, by Fernando, and by Javi. We hope so much that we can continue to witness how each season will unfold for you. Victor and I’ve been so impressed by your journey always reminding us, that anything is possible if we just believe.
