He first saw her in church. They were drawn to the same beliefs, similar trajectory and happen to be in the same city. She was beautiful then, and he was attractive, so naturally the first date came about. That was ten years ago…

He had planned a whole excursion on the Hawaiian Islands a few years ago. He had picked out the ring by himself, and it became a matter of waiting for the perfect moment, and Dan finally stumbled upon it. He asked Alexis to be his wife, after being together for five years. The setting couldn’t be any more romantic and perfect. Everything was adorned for her affirmative response. She hesitated and didn’t say yes. She just sighed and couldn’t find the words. She didn’t say no. She just said in short words, ‘not yet.’ Seeing she was about to leave the state to finish studies in the Midwest she felt it wasn’t the right time. He knew, however, that it was a matter of more waiting.

Five years later, they settled down, both with their careers on track and finding themselves in their hometown once more. He knew it was the right moment, the right season, the right day to get his response. Alexis’ grandmother had recently passed and the ring that she once wore, happened to gracefully transfer to Alexis’ hand when Dan proposed for the second time. With the right ring, the right moment, the right season, she couldn’t resist. She said a loud and clear, “Yes!”

As we treaded mile long journey to Kirby Cove from the Marin Headlands, we knew besides Alexis’ adorable laugh and Dan’s charming grin; the ring was the star of their session. The Golden Gate Bridge is to be the theme of the wedding, so as expected, Alexis chose the best spot with the Golden Gate towering in the background. Kirby Cove is one of those spots that only the locals know about and took vantage point (literally). I’m counting down the hours for their upcoming nuptials (this Saturday!). Knowing the long journey they’ve had together to get to the altar is one that is both admirable and honorable. I’m humbled and taken aback to be able to capture this long-awaited day for you, Alexis and Dan.
