These Moments on a Wedding Day Cannot be Missed! | Through Victor’s Lens

We are at the doors of springtime and along with that the start of our new wedding season, especially outdoor weddings. I feel ready and excited to see what this season has in store.

Each wedding is unique and extraordinary. Each affair planned with so much dedication and preparation with time and thought. The personal details of each wedding, from flowers to music are carefully selected. It’s a blessing to work next to my wife to be able to capture these unique moments in life. Every detail of a wedding is the utmost importance, and the attention they deserve to be captured is my job. I enjoy each moment, from the getting ready pictures to the wide shots of the venue and church, the first look, the kiss, the first dance and touching speeches.

Although, between us my trusting friends, I want to share these two moments that are my absolute favorites and cannot be missed which are:

– When dad gives his daughter away at the altar
– The dance between a father and his daughter

Doesn’t matter what city the wedding is held, or the background music or if it was in a church or outdoors, I always enjoy photographing these moments and I even feel more creative in these lapses of time.

I don’t think it’s a mere coincidence. There’s something about these golden moments in which I identify with so much. I can relate to the dad, and I can relate to the daughter. I can imagine in those moments my dad (who is my best friend) and my little sister (Rocio) whom I love so much with all my heart. The whole story becomes even more special to me, because of my immigration status at the time; I wasn’t able to attend my sister’s wedding. The wedding was in Guatemala, the country known as the ‘Country of the Eternal Springtime,’ the land that watched me grow up and often makes me sigh whenever I think of it. I wasn’t able to be there physically, but I know that I was in my sister’s heart and in my dad’s. That’s is why these two parts are especially favorites of mine, and they allow me to dream of what that moment looked like for my dad and sister.

I’ve thought that one day, I’d like to surprise my sister and right there in my parent’s living room tell her, “I owe you one” (possibly with Ottis Redding’s ‘Stand by Me’ in the background). I’d take her out for a spin as I would’ve liked on her wedding day.

I would like to conclude this entry by dedicating it to my sister. And to remind her that even though we’re far from each other physically, I always have her in my heart.
