Mount Tamalpais Engagement Session: Kati & Nick

She had only exchanged some casual words with him in the pristine white corridors of the cosmetic counters at Macy’s. They were just co-workers then, kind of like retail ‘colleagues’ if you will. They had no intention then or maybe a slight wither of hope of a new friendship emerging. They bonded over their mutual workplace and life took them into separate directions. It wasn’t long until they randomly texted a year later to see if they were still in San Francisco. Lucky enough they were in town and scheduled a first date.

That date prompted many adventures together. From meeting Kati’s extended Mexican family in Southern California to award ceremonies recognizing Nick and his career accomplishments. Every bit of memory had paved their way to this moment right here. In early October, Nick surprised Kati in the best way. He asked her to marry him, forever linking their journeys to one another. After 5 years of friendship, love, growth, doing life together, she knew without a doubt that he was a keeper. She said yes, and #keepingthez movement emerged. Soon after, their European getaway turned into an engagement trip. By far the best way to commemorate their next chapter in life. The London bridge, Versailles and the City of Love where crossed off their travel bucket-list while also envisioning their wedding day.

Kati, my francophile sister, described to me all about their Sunday morning hikes at the Dawn Falls Trail in Larkspur. They would grab their morning coffee and head into the forest, relaxing and spending time together. So naturally, this would be the best starting point for their engagement session. Victor and I had never been, but Victor was inspired and has since determined to run the trail. Every corner we turned looked as if it was part of a storybook and it was just the first quarter of a mile that we walked. Kati and Nick brought a collection of things that personalized their session. Of course, the ‘Z’ made a debut but didn’t quite compare to Nick’s grandparents’ wedding photo. Without a doubt, Nick comes from a family of romantics. We loved their adventurous spirit, they followed us to one of the overlooks in Mount Tam quickly before the fog rolled in to finish their session. Sunset was magical and light diffused by the mist as well as their smiles. We were in picture heaven!

Kati and Nick, August 25th cannot come quick enough! We are hoping to get another excuse to see you but just wanted to let you know how much you both mean to us and are so honored to have captured some new memories while honoring old ones. Hasta Agosto!
