In the rare occasion that we venture off as a family (family meaning parents, siblings, close family friends, you know the whole enchilada) it must be recorded. My parents are hard workers. Our mom is pushing her late 50’s, and there’s no talk of retirement. Our dad is busy with church construction, and he’s not giving up just yet. We planned and begged and then begged some more to have just a weekend away altogether. I remember this trip with such a grateful heart for these sweet slices of life. I love to photograph in film whenever possible because it forces me to be still and to be selective. Victor loves the instant result of digital, so you’ll see him with his camera body in hand.
My brother turned twenty-something, and it was an occasion to leave our comfy Bay Area homes just to be together in the snow. I had been longing to photograph snow, and since Christmas around the corner, I figured printing some of our personal archives might be a beautiful winter ornament for our walls and the blog no less.
Our favorite moment? Gazing at the pink and blue sunset from the North Shore of Lake Tahoe. We had almost missed it, but thanks to my brother’s speeding habits we got there in the perfect crisp time. WE climbed the rocks and just remained thankful to be together.
We love to escape, to get a fresh new perspective and to rest our hearts and souls from the busy scenes of home. We even say that it’s an investment into our business. The more rest and at peace we feel the more productive we are once we get into the grind of things. Here’s until our next trip familia!
