It wasn’t that long ago that the crazy idea of creating our shoot would make our 2016 goals list. We knew in our hearts that we wanted to be very specific. From the dress silhouette to the groom’s color suit, to the hair, make-up and every last detail. It was a shoot designed for us to enjoy, to display other artist’s work and to attract certain people. Individuals who are in love with love and might be a bit spontaneous. Dreaming of just being married to their partner whether it’s been 5 months or 5 years.

Victor and I eloped before our big wedding that happened the next year after. We had a bit of both worlds with no regrets, (well maybe a smaller guest list, more on that in a later post). We had been together for about 5 years, and we randomly decided just to do it, why wait? Life wasn’t getting longer, and we knew on our second date that forever was an inevitable option. We decided to venture to San Francisco City Hall to get married. My parents came, my brothers were there, and one of my childhood friends witnessed the ceremony. Victor’s family is in Guatemala and thus weren’t able to make our small and spontaneous affair. We were fine to do this, just us. Even if it was just us 2. We didn’t have answers as to why then, but we knew that we couldn’t wait a minute longer. To honor our parents’ wishes and some of my childhood dreams, we saved up to be able to have the nuptials we dreamt of on our 2nd date the year after that. The one thing we wished we would have invested, a photographer to capture our impromptu tale. Now we rely on our somewhat blurry and few images one of my brothers attempted to capture on our small DSLR. Nevertheless, our own story inspired this shoot.

We love the fact that millions of people visit these enchanted halls. Hundreds of our colleagues found clinging to each corner capturing its majestic beauty. And at the epicenter of it all, the historic 100-year-old rotunda that arches over new families and couples who say ‘I do,’ starting a new chapter to their story.

We were gifted with the incredible honor to photograph Shana from Fox and Doll’s work as well as Maria from Studio Wildflower. Their generous contributions to this shoot we confidently attribute as the breath of life in each capture. To the fabulous and stunning bride model Mariel Salgado as well as our handsome groom Tony (our little brother, whom you might’ve recognized from previous posts) who were so patient and dazzled us with each movement, glance, and gentle touch, we’re incredibly grateful to the two of you. Although we had unexpected delays and it almost canceled, it’s because of all our efforts combined that these images were brought to life. Thank you!
