Alamere Falls: Eyes on the Prize Hike

alamere falls ©serafin love-2There I was… Clinging…Grabbing a hold of the foothold with my semi-injured hand on the rock. The gravel of the rocks on the higher cliff made it uneasy and the sand blowing in the wind almost blinded me. The ocean grew even more ferocious, and the tide rose higher. I wanted to desperately look back to see if I had a secured hold of my next step. I was secretly wishing and hoping that if I fell, it wouldn’t hurt as much. Although I thought intensely about the pain, then I wished not to fall. Victor was ahead of me, ascending successfully with a backpack full of gear and frequently turned around to ‘help’ me (more like pulling me up). I thought, that as tempting as it was to look back, I couldn’t. I had to keep my gaze on the next step, the next move and keep breathing. Alamere falls was a sight to see and the rock climbing portion to get down on the beach was not going to hold me back.

The little fight I had in my head reminded me how in business, especially solo-preneur businesses, there are so many uncertain decisions we might’ve made. Regardless, we must fix our eyes on the prize. Grabbing a hold of the next rock or opportunity, as fleeting as it is, is more important than dwelling on the past. I find it so tempting to overanalyze, overly criticize and put myself down, but this is my reminder: there’s always something else to grab a hold.

Another plus to this 9-mile hiking excursion, we love rock climbing. So much so that we’re signing up to Planet Granite for more climbing ventures. If you’re ever in Marin or looking for an adventurous session location, Alamere Falls is EPIC! The exhausting trail rewards you with a coastal waterfall plus complete isolation. We started a bit late in the evening with our friends, but even gazing at the stars as we made our way back gave me time to make hundreds of wishes and prayers.alamere falls
