It was all but a dream. A trolley, a church, family, best friends, gold and blush sequins, pizza, Italian and the golden gate as a backdrop were but a few elements from the day. She was full of emotion, and he was slightly nervous. Gowns and florals were swept off their suite floor, and perfume scented their room. Alex and Derek were anticipating the moment they envisioned ever since he first proposed. Her glamorous and fabulous girlfriends surrounded Alex. Derek had his brothers, and the rest of his family helped him get ready with the bowtie and a few guy-friendly accessories like Cuban cigars.
The classic San Francisco trolley was the transportation of choice taking them from their hotel to the church and then eventually to the gallery space at Fort Mason. There were bubbly’s popped and cheering. Tourist greeted them from all of the Marina and Pier 39 spots and the girls reciprocated the hellos. Alex was inundated with so much love minutes before the ceremony and tears couldn’t be contained. It was her happiest day, and it was all because of Derek.
Derek’s childhood pastor married them, and everyone who meant something to them came and witnessed their start as a new family. Her smile was contagious, and the laughter and cheer’s from their guests were the perfect serenades for their church exit. It was bliss and a moment of pure celebration.
She danced. He twirled her. The sunset streaming beautiful light through the large windows casted a spotlight on their first dance. It was as if God himself crowned this day theirs for the years to come. Alex’s grandfather made a debut on the dance floor and everyone who was gifted with the picture of the beautiful bride and grandfather dancing together, couldn’t help but smile and even continue the cheering. Their best friends toasted to their happiness and one even revealing silly secrets from when Derek made his first move. It was a whirlwind to think how far they have come in life. He is a fireman, and she is a teacher. It’s a quintessential story and one reminiscent of another decade as their pastor noted. Nevertheless, the whole room broke out in laughter. The joy on the shore of San Francisco was palpable in every way. Alex and Derek were the very meaning of joy and love that day. It’s one that merits and received many ovations that night.
Alex and Derek, as we have told you in other moments, thank you for taking us on this ride. We can’t wait to see how the future will unfold for the two of you. Your love is one that seamless and full of happiness. We wish you million more moments of pure joy, especially on the dance floor.
