Grace

Last week was a spectacular one. One with little sleep, little energy but overloads of anxiety, nerves, and joy. My sister-friend unexpectedly went into labor 3 1/2 weeks before planned. Her mother being away in Costa Rica and being her first baby, I felt this compelling need to be there. She didn’t ask me to nor did I, but I assumed the younger sisterly role, and I couldn’t have planned it better. Witnessing the birth of my baby niece is one that will stay with me forever. It is one that impacted my heart with an abundance of joy and love. Baby Grace’s entrance into this world was one that tested my patience, my sister’s physical strength, but left us floored with an overdose of love.

Having spent the entire week working out of the labor and delivery room, plus learning new medical terminology might’ve been a bit physically taxing, but I can say that I am blessed with a new perspective–a new eye on life. I filmed some parts with the intention to share with grandma but also to embarrass her one-day in her quinceanera. I still hear her heartbeat when I’m not with her and I frequently go back to the moment where she triumphantly greeted the world with her fist in the air at first. Her cries are shrills of excitement, a little singer in the making after her dad. I couldn’t be more blessed to have witnessed such a miracle and grateful for her health and vigor for life. Happy Birthday Grace.baby grace, kaiser
