I’ve been wrestling with my inner creative diva on how to start off this post…So here it goes… Hello! I’m Tanya, and I am a wedding photographer extraordinaire and love everything romantic, beautiful, fun and editorial. Yup! My favorite sounds are the a-minor chord on a un-tuned old piano and the click of my shutter button on my film camera. I’ve been described to have been born in the wrong decade or was somehow magically transported from the 30’s or 40’s. To say that my office and bedroom have a shabby chic feel would be an understatement: it’s really a compilation of anything that fits my 300 sq feet personal space and found at the Alameda Flea Market (my favorite). From Billy Holiday, black winged eyeliner to early 1900’s sheet music, these are a few of my favorite things. My gallant charming of a hubby and I run our businesses from home and are amidst the baby planning stages. Yes, you could say that I’m in quite of whirlwind transitional season. Nevertheless, I can’t complain. I love where I am in the bay area and have the most amazing family and friends a gal could ever ask for.
I guess you could say that I’ve been blogging on and off since 2008 when I attempted to start a fashion blog but then realize I wasn’t loving being in front of the camera. I’m more of a behind the camera person. I feel that satisfies my control freak issues. I’ve never been consistent, but I want to be. Although there might not be absolutely anybody remotely interested in the rantings of a wedding artist and romance connoisseur, I pray that there will still be a few readers by the end of this small, petite intro. I would love to be able to document my process and encourage anybody else who feels flawed yet has an insatiable yearning to bring a little more beauty to this diverse world. Being a P.K. (preacher’s kid), I’ve learned to sit Sunday after Sunday in the front row listening to my dad (just picture a Hispanic gospel-infused Anthony Robbins) inspiring and motivating people to move forward and beyond their own boundaries. I guess I would like to do the same from my own podium–my blog.
I can’t say who would be reading this blog, but I would love to think that this is for my future brides I’m privileged to work with and with anybody who’s wanting a little creative freedom and inspiration. My aesthetic is described somewhat editorial, and I love to think that I do this for the everyday woman who picks up a Vogue magazine or who spends hours reading fashion blogs and dreams about being captured flawlessly. I’m no Picasso or Oprah, but I think that my little piece of a pie can transform your world.
Recently, I launched my new website. It displays my recent work and travels. I’ve been working day and night on that thing. I figured, since I don’t have a studio yet, this can be my virtual storefront. As you can see, I take scrap-booking to the virtual level. I’m over the moon and Jupiter grateful that it’s been released. I also had this blogsite re-designed and I can’t be any more proud of it (sigh*).
At the end of everything, I really just want make women look and feel their most absolute beautiful self and inspired to do the same with other young women.
The end…Till tomorrow
