There was a little bit of resistance on her side at first, but he eventually got her number even though it was through one of her friends. Their story started during their college career where they were both intensely focused on their athletics goals, so they stayed in touch throughout the years that passed by. Ryan went around the world while Shanice honed in on her gymnastics athletics at San Jose State University. They crossed paths again, and this time they were in a season where things were a little bit flexible. They were both hooked; he loved her drive, and she loved his charisma.

After years of doing life together through, graduate school, long-distance and everything that came with it they only fell deeper in love with each other. They saw the world together, ventured to endless amounts of beaches from California to Jamaica. It wasn’t until 2016 when their next stop was Italy and Ryan surprised Shanice. After a long hike and walk, they had finally arrived at the Piazzale Michelangelo overlooking Florence at sunset. He got on one knee asking Shanice to spend forever with him. His intention for the subtle gesture ended up luring a whole crowd bursting into cheers and congratulations when Shanice said yes.

Their beautiful October day finally arrived, and every detail was in place. Their generous friends had lent them their private estate in the secluded hills of Los Gatos for their wedding ceremony backdrop. As true Halloween fans, they invited everyone near and dear to their masquerade wedding. They flew in hundreds of Venetian masks in efforts to keep their love with the haunted month’s affairs. Every detail was personalized, from Shanice’s dress handmade by her mother to their centerpieces and bouquets made of brooches. Their guests cheered them on in the most hilarious but touching ceremony officiated by their long-time friend. They dined at sunset, and their toasts, dancing, and celebration echoed through the hills rivaling the cheers when Ryan first proposed. Life finally took a turn to the next chapter for Shanice and Ryan.
