I still remember the time she confessed she was in love. I was not expecting it. My sweet friend of almost 20 years had found someone who made her happy. I was ecstatic but couldn’t help to wonder why she took so long to inform me of her new beau. They let it marinate, and they wanted to get to know each other because deep down inside, they wanted so bad to marry each other, so Vanessa told me over dinner. A year went by, and they finally tied the knot and I stood so blissfully joyful for their new life together as her maid of honor. There was a mix of happiness, joy, little stress, and nostalgia as I watched her ride away with her husband from beach nuptials.
I’ve watched them develop a sweet relationship and have quietly celebrated their personal growth with them. Vanessa and Eduardo form what I’ve known to be one of the most faithful of families. She has strong willed commitment to people and to serving in the church, and he is someone who continually strives to be better than yesterday. They are two hearts that create and even bigger one together.
When Vanessa asked me for an anniversary session, I didn’t let a second go by exclaiming aloud ‘yes!’ Knowing her and honoring her wedding day, we went to the majestic Marin Headlands just before sunset. The oceans, the sun, the slight misty breeze painted the perfect portrait–two souls intertwined in an essence of all they’ve been through together, their love, and the life that is to come.
Vanessa, I wish you nothing more than pure, irrevocable, unconditional love and joy for the next millions of moments over the next hundreds of years. Te amo Hermana…
