He had flown across the country to the East Coast to settle in his new home. As he made his way, he invited Isabell for a visit. Little did she know she would make the same journey from San Diego to New York to stay as well. Dieter planned every detail for that evening. The reservations were made, the candles were all lit, and the montage he personally created of their journey together was ready to be played. Isabell, in typical girl fashion, was taking her time to get ready. She was just about done when Dieter with a little bit of angst worked up, asked her to come out of her dressing area. Blithely unaware of what was to happen next, she saw the beautiful montage played and was taken aback by the romantic evening Dieter created. At the end, he sat her down and asked her to spend the rest of their lives together. Without a hesitation, she said yes.

Knowing that they made the journey across the country for their engagement session, I was uncertain about that day. It was pouring rain in the Northbay without a minute of stopping. To say that I was worried and stressed wouldn’t accurately describe my inner turmoil of uncertainty. As hard it was raining the harder I prayed for a scenic weather for Isabell and Dieter’s session. Alas, as we approached the coast it’s as if the literal heavens opened up creating a hazy and blue day.

With just a few days before the Holidays, people crowded Lover’s Point in Monterey. Nevertheless, the private cove and the rocks allowed for some privacy. We walked around, climbed a few rocks, and more rocks and then waited for the perfect splash. The one detail that was consistent is that Isabell never stopped smiling. She and Dieter make the perfect pair; she being the risk taker and he being a little bit more grounded. I’m beyond honored to be able to capture their upcoming nuptials in Monterey again this year. I’m counting the days!
