Palace of Fine Arts, San Francisco Engagement: Macy & Brian

They were just kids when they fell in love. And as Ed Sheeran romantically puts it, they probably didn’t know what it was. In the middle of a small town in Illinois, there were two teenagers in high school awkwardly chatting and maybe even pretending not to be so cold under the snow. What ended up as a simple conversation ended up being the first chapter of their story together. They probably didn’t see the future entirely, they probably weren’t thinking about the decade ahead of them, but they knew that being together for that season felt right.

The years passed and they both graduated from the esteemed Purdue University. Life held so many adventures in store for them. Brian had tallied up so many accomplishments from winning a Grammy along with his High School band and also driving across the country by himself for the sheer joy of knowing new places. Macy followed him across state lines to continue their story in the South when Brian moved for his most recent accomplishment–his new job. She knew their life was bringing them to another chapter, when Brian proposed to her on their trip to Dawsonville, Georgia where the beautiful Amicalola Falls is nestled among the mountains. He asked,

“Few people are lucky enough to find the person they love for the rest of their life. And fewer still find them when they were as young as us. I am unbelievably lucky to have you in my life. I couldn’t think of a more beautiful place, to create this, our most beautiful moment together yet. Macy, will you marry me?”

Macy was so touched by the moment, the scenery and everything that had led up that moment and without hesitation said ‘yes.’ Brian surprised her when they met the rest of their family and friends back at the lodge where they were staying. The next couple of days were full of celebrating, gratefulness and love.

It was surreal being with them on warm January day in San Francisco. We had only met through Facetime, but our connection with them translated to in-person. After days of praying for good weather, knowing that they’d only have the opportunity for their engagement session that one Monday, we were responded with what Macy called a watercolor sunset. The high winds were tamed, and they took in the sunset at the Palace of Fine Arts. Knowing that the majority of their wedding guests would be flying in for their wedding bells affair, the classic Golden Gate had to make a cameo or two. We were gifted with the warmth of their smiles, a little bit of their personal story together and the beautiful colors in the sky. Yes, SF put on a good show for them.

Macy and Brian, we remember this day and how out of the ordinary everything aligned. Although, knowing you two a little better we’re not too surprised because two extraordinary people merit something out of the ordinary. Thank you for bringing your Georgian sunshine as well as for being incredibly kind-hearted. We can’t wait to reveal your wedding gallery!
