It was a simple introduction. Cyrell’s best friend since middle school introduced Ali to her. There were no expectations and they exchanged hello’s and went on their way. It probably was chance or the normal course of life, but they found themselves spending more and more time with their group of mutual friends. They were a loud crowd, one that clings to one another and spent hours living it up to the fullest with laughter and Golden State Warrior games. As all of them banded together, Cyrell and Ali would share more time getting to know each other. And as time finally unraveled they decided to spend some time together alone afterward.

Fast forward to the late summer of 2016. Cyrell and Ali ventured to Chicago for jet-setting fun and deep pizza tasting. They checked off their Chicago bucket list by visiting pizza parlors, hot dog stands, Sky decking it and by Ali surprising his then-girlfriend with a question.  There they were in front of the Bean on a sunny afternoon. Ali had the bright idea to make a little video documenting how much they enjoyed their trip. When all the sudden he declared that his biggest takeaway would be making the decision to make his girlfriend his wife. In complete disbelief and shock, Cyrell took a little second to let that statement set in. She finally held her hand and said ‘of course’. Now Cyrell was a fiancée (pronounced fe-yon-ce) since Ali put a ring on it!

When we first met with Cyrell and Ali, it felt like meeting with old friends. Their laid-back attitude and warmth were inviting over a couple of vanilla lattes. After brainstorming for a few months and rescheduling, we finally got the chance to capture their engagement session. They wanted to highlight the City of San Francisco by going to one of the most visited hills–Potrero Hill. Although it wasn’t the easiest navigating with cars, stop signs and oncoming traffic, they had fun. We saw it as a challenge and as a new way to get creative, but a part of me wished that we could have a whole set of people creating detours. Time flew and now in these next coming days, Cyrell and Ali will marry after 1 year and half of planning.

Cyrizzle and Prince Ali, we wholeheartedly are counting down the hours for your big wedding day. We know that those same group of friends who have supported you throughout those 11 years together will be standing by you on the altar as you marry. But also know, that you have a couple of new friends cheering you on as you make your way to marry each other–us! We’re overwhelmed with your caring selves and love for the queen B. We’ll see you Saturday!
