San Ramon Engagement: Susan & Clayton

It was just about 3 years ago when they first laid eyes on each other unknowing of what their future held for them. It was an unexpected beginning of many chapters ahead. Susan was open-hearted to Clayton’s boy-next-door charm and Susan being a stunner of beauty Clayton was smitten too. The first season of their lives together was spent celebrating their friends’ weddings subtly acquiring experience for ‘a one day, maybe’ kind of event of their own. She was a simple girl with a chef-like-chocolate making flair of her own and he was an almost cowboy making it in the valley story, and it made sense to be together.

After many road trips, spending time on Clayton’s family ranch, wine tasting, sailing under the Golden Gate Bridge, horseback riding, and learning how to hunt wild pigs, they found themselves out of the country.  They saw landmarks, castles, and made more memories together abroad. It was on their stop in Heidelberg, Germany where they got to know a little bit more of Clayton’s family roots where the unexpected happened. While being taken aback by some of country’s beauty and waterscapes that Clayton decided to surprise Susan. He had been secretly carrying a diamond ring in his pocket, waiting for the moment where he could propose. On one of their long walks, he took her by the hand, professed his eternal love for her and asked her to become the next Mrs. W. Susan teared up and held her hand to her mouth all while saying ‘yes.’ And just like that their next chapter was on the horizon.

When the time came to choose their location as the backdrop of their story, it was an inevitable answer that Clayton’s childhood home and family’s ranch would be included. Both having spent so much of their relationship out on the farm and on the hillside, they wanted their session to allude to what their wedding day will hold. The country charm in California was one that I wasn’t too familiar with, but their hospitality and friendship made us feel welcome on this journey with them. The stunning and beautiful location with the Bay in the background required a little off-roading, but it was perfect. Fear of heights couldn’t be an excuse and it slowly melted by the panoramic views of the whole Bay Area. We knew that they had cultivated their own journey together up to this point. Their journey a little bit unpaved, traditional and untraditional, with elements of a country charm all while sharing a view of what’s ahead to so much more.

Susan and Clayton, we cannot express how honored we feel to be a part of your big hoe-down nuptials. We are so in love with your families story. We want to find the perfect excuse to repeat this day again. The end of April cannot come soon enough! Here’s until then!
