Sausalito Presbyterian Church Wedding: Dan & Alexis

It was an unusual day, especially for Sausalito. The skies were vibrant blue, and there was not a cloud in sight. The 70-degree morning welcomed everybody to the enchanting Sausalito Presbyterian Church (which I’m convinced inspired some fairytales). The oak manor, the wreaths, the lush roses and the crystals on Alexis’ dress were hung and wrapped. Like always, Victor and I arrived too early and there was nobody in sight. Luckily, I knew my way around given our mini tour the day before.

In typical Alexis fashion, she ran the down the stairs with bags and bags of her belongings, car keys in one hand, and sunglasses in her perfectly blown out locks as if she were getting married the next day. Wedding day bliss was in full effect, and the laughter of the guys on the other side of the room was perfectly in synch. Friends were all smiles, and the names ‘Dan and Alexis’ were the melody of the day. Dapper Dan got a little help from his bro for the big moment and Alexis focused on putting the final touches of her makeup.

Everything happened so quickly, no glitch, perfectly smooth. It’s as if the loving stares, spontaneous laughter, and first kiss were all rehearsed. They made their way out of the ceremony and stuck to the plan (inadvertently) and rounded up their friends and family. Alexis was in disbelief that she was now a wife and Dan’s grin gave his heart away. Both the clamor of Spanish and English were intermixed, so much so, that I stepped into ‘refine’ things a bit. The happiness and the joy were so evident and palpable that even Dan’s 3-year-old nephew stepped in to take a few shots.

Making our way downtown Sausalito, tourists, strangers, and vendors of the famous Bridgeway Street toasted in their honor and congratulated them. They were the celebrities walking down the street, and I was the part of the entourage. Every scene was different, water views, the urban flair of the streets, the enchanting greenery of the church; no two images were the same. The reception commenced, and the music was in full swing. They danced the day away with friends, family, and even pulled me out into the dance floor! There was not one person in the room that didn’t laugh or shed a tear as they concluded the day. I rub my eyes in disbelief how the magical nuptials came about in less than three months. That’s just who Dan and Alexis are–two beautiful souls who are adventurous, slightly competitive and are all about celebrating life and family.

Dan and Lexy, thank you for taking us on the ride. I only hope that as you’re enjoying the beautiful Caribbean islands that you will take this in new season. You two are blessed and even more with the abundance of friends and family who are at your side. Thank you, we are beyond-words honored.
