Stern Grove Wedding, San Francisco: Bertie & Ryan

Her gaze moved to the floor softly. Her dear sister began to give a few words of gratitude to all those who were present. Everyone went quiet. She spoke about how things aligned in a divine kind of a way. She didn’t doubt that even though their precious mother couldn’t be there with them that day,  she somehow had a hand in putting together all the wedding details that somehow went right at the last minute. It was clear that even though their mother had passed about ten years ago, there wasn’t a day Bertie didn’t miss her. Ryan graciously put his hand on her shoulder and she teared up quietly. Their wedding day was made that much more precious by honoring those who were present and those who weren’t able to be.

She had set a vision for months on how she wanted her perfect day to unfold. Ryan only had a few requests for details that he knew needed to make an appearance. Bertie made an effort in her design choices to personalize details featuring Star Wars in the boutonnieres, in the cufflinks to their lightsabers used with pride throughout the day. She chose dried flowers for her arrangements and spent the couple weeks before the wedding completely DIY’ing her bouquets, boutonnieres, and centerpieces. Both being loyal foodies, they trusted the Bay Area renowned seafood truck Sam’s Chowdermobile for the wedding luncheon. All of their guests enjoyed the deserts and the food options that could easily be every San Franciscan’s dream. Their day was an affair to celebrate and to relish in.

Out of all of the things Bertie and Ryan planned for the day, we could say that the biggest smile we saw was when he realized that he got a unique groom’s cake. Although, he couldn’t really cut into it since he felt that he was cutting through one of his favorite Stars Wars character, BB-8 and that it was on the inhumane side. Nevertheless, he was obliged to slice into the cake and pretended not to like the flavor. There was so much laughter, hugs, and embraces, and going back for seconds to Sam’s Chowdermobile. It was a perfect day in the Stern Grove grounds and no doubt Bertie’s mom had the best seat in the house.

Bertie and Ryan, every detail from your day was infused with your touch and personality. Thank you for your words Ryan while we departed, it’s honestly an honor to have been the ones to capture the woodsy-Star Wars(y)-fairy tale like wedding. We love you two! Can’t wait to try out a couple of Bertie’s restaurant recommendations (BTW, we can’t be thankful enough for sending us to Salt and Straw! Lavender ice cream with caramel was one of the bests!)
