I felt challenged. I felt freedom. I felt the ease to let go of my way to embrace something new. The Wedding Walkthrough workshop with Justin & Mary Marantz was an unforgettable experience. They gave me a peek into their 10+Year trajectory. I saw their successes, triumphs, flaws molding into a beautiful journey. I’ve attended workshops before, have gone to business school and have seen numerous of online seminars and Ted Talks, but going to this, this place in New Haven was taking all those courses and fusing into a trigger for something bigger ahead.

Running late after my flight, having problems with my bank cards (I forgot to tell them I was flying out of state), waiting for my room to be ready in the Hotel and soon, I missed the welcome dinner. To say that I was experiencing full on FOMO is an understatement. I thought it’d be nice instead to take my little brother, who decided to come with me, out to dinner in celebration of his birthday in the downtown area. I was expectant of new things. I decided right then and there over a plate of super spicy buffalo wings to keep my heart open for the road ahead.

That Wednesday, there were uncomfortable moments. I saw how other couples were experiencing the workshop together and was reminded how much I missed Victor. Although, I decided to keep a brave face and maintain an open heart and open mind. I picked up on new tools, learned new terms and refreshed myself with the reason why it is I became a business owner – a wedding photographer. I’ll save that for another post. Wednesday was full of new friends, a whole truckload of knowledge, so much that I arrived at my hotel that night thinking in numbers and scrutinizing lighting from all directions.

I felt vulnerable to open up the way I did. But I don’t regret it. In fact, I couldn’t be prouder.
