Their hearts were forever linked since their early days as a couple in Sonoma State. The long distance between them, the time away or life endeavors did not impede their relationship from growing. So much that their day finally arrived. The day Natalie had been vigorously planning to wed Peter. The sunny and warm November day came, and in a matter of seconds, Peter and Natalie were at the familiar place of Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, where Peter and his family had congregated throughout the years. The elegant church with glass tinted windows and ornate walls and ceilings housed their guests and relatives as they married in Greek Orthodox tradition.
There was an abundance of affection, smiles, sprinkle of tears, warmth and love. Though it was their first day as husband and wife, the two extended families blended seamlessly. Each being overwhelmingly supportive of Natalie and Peter’s union. Memories were created and glimpses into their future foretold, but they brought years of stories and chapters that were the perfect preamble to the rest of their lives. Natalie was the apple of her father’s eye that day and Peter’s mother reciprocated the feeling towards him.
The sequins, the beautiful ocean backdrop, the lights, the white hydrangeas painted their day that much more beautiful but still couldn’t top the joy and love in the room. Their big, fat Greek, Lebanese and Italian wedding segued into the grand Embassy Suites. They danced, dined, dwelled in the memories before, and danced some more. Victor and I knew we were lucky. Although this might’ve been our first time attending such blended cultural affair like theirs, we still felt like part of the family. Everybody was connected in some way, and it was for the sake of their two souls who were now one.
Peter and Natalie, we feel so privileged to have been part of your story. It was like a movie, with its subtle nuances, climax and the happily ever after. Your parents raised such heartwarming and kind souls, and we’re excited to see what the future holds for you two. Thank you, Grazie Mille…
