She had studied hard for the exam. Spent countless hours in her typical overachiever freshman fashion to be the top of the class, set a new bar if you will. Biology doesn’t come easy to everybody, and when she got her final results, her teacher congratulated for a job well done and informed her of her 2nd top place in the class. Jessica celebrated for a millisecond until she heard that someone did better than her. She didn’t think much, but in a casual conversation with her best friend a charming Senior guy mentioned he got the top grade in the class. The verdict was in, and she knew who was stole her much deserved place. Nick and Jessica’s competitive first meeting didn’t procure study dates right away. As the high school years went by, they were both slightly resistant to the undeniable chemistry they have.

It wasn’t until one of her best friends started to date Nick’s identical twin brother that they got to know each other better. Text messages were exchanged, group dates arranged and then they found themselves spending time together alone. Being each other high schools sweethearts merited them the privilege to experience life together. Witnessing life changing events together, seeing new family additions as well as being each other’s greatest cheerleaders in their higher education pursuits.

Nick and Jessica always conversed of spending forever together. Growing old together is one of Jessica’s dearest wishes and Nick’s heart was to make those wishes come true. He custom designed the ring, hand-picking the rock and ensuring it’s brilliance to match Jessica’s smile. It took a couple of weeks, but the new heirloom was finished. Nick was ready; it was all about the right moment to come. They went to their favorite resort place in Monterey on a beautiful October day to celebrate their anniversary. He planned it to the second. Although his plans didn’t include Jessica’s extended nap missing sunset time, he was determined to leave Monterey as Jessica’s fiancé. As the evening drew near and the fireplace was going, Nick proposed and Jessica happily accepted.

As they plan to wed in their 10-year mark, they took Victor and me along for the ride. We planned to meet in the majestic Muir Woods but Holiday traffic had veered our plans to Mount Tam. They graciously accepted the new plan and held onto each other in the cold January weather. We kicked off 2017 with their session, and one of my hope is that we can have the same grace and spontaneity flair that they do to accept all the things this year has for us!

Nick and Jessica, we could barely feel the cold weather as we were so touched by the warmth of your gestures, stories and slightly steep hikes we took. The countdown begins for a new chapter to being in your love story this September, and we couldn’t be any more privileged to be the ones to capture it.
