It’s Ok Not to be Ok

baker beach, sunset. san francisco, karl the fog, miller beach golden gate beach pacific ocean, california coast, mother's dayI hit pause. I knew I needed a moment or two for myself. I pride myself in a stellar morning routine thus propelling me in an uber fabulous, productive day. Regardless how I’m feeling, whether drained or tired, I know I have a slew of things to do, planning, and dare I say, thriving. But this week, no. Last week, I just knew I couldn’t launch myself the way I usually do on Motivational Mondays. I had no inspiration, no energy or focus. Family emergencies & illnesses had my full on attention and heart. I knew if I pushed myself I would not produce my best work or any good job for that matter. The full-on migraines were not helping, and the chest pains grew worse. I hit pause. I reset and then I started to play again.

Forgive the old tape mix analogy but there’s no better way to describe my process. Sometimes, you just have to stop, take a moment, meditate and learn. As an artist, I owe it to my clients, the people who believe in me to do my best. I believe part of my creative process comes from my soul and if my soul is not well, well then I have to take care of it and heal.

If there are parts of your life, whether it’s planning a wedding, your creative business launch or your life endeavors, if you know that you’re not 100%, it’s ok to hit pause. It’s ok not to be ok. It’s ok to make a change and ponder about it until you get it right. Though tomorrow is not promised, it’s our actions today that make for a better tomorrow.

“If we are ever in doubt what to do, it is a good rule to ask ourselves what we shall wish on the morrow that we had done.”
-John Lubbock

Take a moment, meditate and heal. Let life run its course and take a moment. We are all artists of our own lives and sometimes the best thing to do it is to rest and become invigorated again.
